There are several other mobile controllers we’ve tested that missed a spot above, along with a few that we’d love to test soon.
Turtle Beach Reconnaissance Cloud for $100: This is another Xbox-branded controller that supports Xbox Cloud Gaming and Remote Play, and comes with a free month of Game Pass Ultimate. It feels great in the hand, has a sturdy phone grip, and works with Android, Xbox, and Windows. It also has some audio enhancements (when plugged in), programmable buttons, and a handy Pro-Aim feature that reduces sensitivity on the right stick for targeting in FPS games. This is a good upgrade over the PowerA controllers listed above, but only if you want the extra features.
GameSir X3 for $100: On paper this is an upgrade over the X2, with tweaked buttons, more options for the joystick and cooling fan on the back, but I recommend the cheaper X2 Pro listed above. , as the fan adds mass and weight and it needs power via a dedicated USB-C port. (It has its own USB-C port for charging through your phone.)
PowerA Moga XP7-X Plus for $100: This controller offers everything the XP-5 X has, but you can also remove the center mount to fit it into your phone (my Pixel 6 Pro fits perfectly). It’s sturdy, offers plenty of buttons (just missing the screenshot button) and can charge your phone wirelessly. But it’s expensive, has a MicroUSB port while I prefer USB-C, and only has a 2,000 mAh battery, so stick with the XP-5 X unless you really want that spring-loaded stand to fit your phone. mine.
8BitDo SN30 Pro for $45: Bringing back memories of the SNES, this controller works with Android, Windows, MacOS, and Switch. It has a built-in rumble, a solid D-pad, good battery life, and a USB-C port.
Razer Kishi V2 for $100: This popular expandable mobile controller comes in Android and iPhone versions. Both can stream PlayStation or Xbox games, and also work with Windows. But we haven’t tested it yet.
One Android Backbone for $100: An Android version of our favorite mobile controller for iPhone is out now, but we haven’t had a chance to test it yet.
