It’s no secret Yves Saint Laurent is one of the most coveted designer brands on the planet and its collection of beauty products—it boldly composed perfume, in particular—no exception. For some context, Algeria-born Yves Saint Laurent moved to Paris as a teenager, where he worked for designer Christian Dior until he founded his own eponymous label in 1961 with with partner Pierre Bergé. Of course, fashion was the primary focus, but by the ’70s, Saint Laurent had begun to break into the beauty industry. (Fun Fact: Like Vanity Fair report ThisYSL was actually the first makeup and fragrance brand to have a fashion house’s name attached to it.)

Zoë Kravitz is the spokesperson for YSL’s popular fragrance Black Opium, and her celebrity father, Lenny Kravitz, was recently appointed as the new ambassador for Y Eau de Parfum.
